Accessibility Statement

Apfelwein Wagner is committed to making its website as accessible as possible in accordance with the German Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities Act (BGG) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0), and to continuously improving accessibility.

Binding Standard

Our website follows the internationally recognized WCAG 2.2, Level AA standard (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), which since June 2025 has been considered the state of the art for large B2C companies. These guidelines form the binding framework for creating accessible web content.

Technical Audit and Results

The website has been tested using the automated Google Lighthouse tool and achieved a score of 100% in the accessibility check. This audit is considered a recognized and objective method for evaluating technical accessibility criteria.

Implemented Accessibility Measures

– Use of semantic HTML5 elements and ARIA landmarks (banner, navigation, main, contentinfo) to structure content clearly
– Full keyboard operability with visible and clearly recognizable focus indicators
– Color design that meets the minimum contrast requirements of WCAG 2.2 AA (at least 4.5:1 for text and interactive elements)
– Descriptive alternative text for all non-text content, such as images and icons
– A “Skip to main content” link facilitates navigation for keyboard and screen reader users
– Regular testing – both automated and manual – to ensure and improve accessibility

Screen Reader Support

Our website supports screen readers and text-to-speech tools, allowing users with visual impairments to access content audibly. Popular tools such as VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), NVDA, and JAWS (Windows) can be used without restrictions.

Accessible PDF Menus

All menus on our website are provided in two formats:
– A classic PDF view in a new window
– An additional accessible, screen reader-optimized PDF version via a dedicated button

This ensures compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA, even for editorial content such as weekly specials and menus.

Limitations and Exceptions

Despite our best efforts, certain content or functions (e.g. embedded third-party applications or dynamic elements) may not be fully accessible. We are continuously working to identify and remove such barriers.
